CARENET is a charity organisation established 19 August 2003 for the primary purpose of promoting refugee & Asylum seekers health and well being and the provision of culturally appropriate and competent service. Crucial to its mission is to support refugee and none refugee community members particularly those from East Africa although not exclusively.

CARENET Multicultural Health and education Services provides information and services to assist health professionals to communicate with non English speaking communities throughout London.
The multilingual health information published on the website will consist of over 200 publications on health in a wide range of languages and new publications are added regularly.

CareNet has Improved access to mental services for Eastern African Communities
CareNet provided culturally appropriate and responsive services- Promotion of cultural understanding on mental health issues, increased knowledge of the experiences of service users and provided information for service providers how to best treat clients from these background.
Better Information- Increased knowledge of BME services in the community, Increased Knowledge of BME Services within statutory services, increased communication within BME services, voluntary, statutory sectors and BME communities.
CARENET workers and Volunteers successfully launched the East African health Information in 5 community languages this includes production of Health and Educational booklets and Newsletters on wide range of disease such as Coronary Artery Disease, Diabetic, Healthy Pregnancy, STI, MMR, Cot Death, Bullying, Caesarean Operation, Drug Education for Parents, drug education for youth, research on Qat, First Aid, Home safety, Safe keeping of the medicine Tuberculosis, Emergency Tips How You Could Safe a life, Children’s Story books, Eczema, Understanding Mental Health, community mental health care Information for Care Givers, women’s and Infants health And had developed good working relations many organisation such as local education authority, Lambeth Drug Action Team, Local GP’s, Local African Organisation, Primary Care Trust, Hospital and the police.
Information and advice on Health and Education Improve access to available mainstream health and Education services and referrals to providers with experience and skills in the provision of culturally appropriate service for the target group. Health promotion programmes will look at ways of ensuring that available points of health services are accessible to African refugees and asylum seekers.
